Journal of Urban Science Education (JUSE) is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and publication ethics. Plagiarism in any form is considered a serious violation of scholarly ethics and is strictly prohibited.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Direct copying of text, ideas, data, figures, or tables from other sources without proper citation.

  • Paraphrasing substantial parts of another work without appropriate acknowledgment.

  • Self-plagiarism, including the reuse of significant portions of the author’s own previously published work without citation or justification.

  • Duplicate or redundant publication of the same manuscript or substantially similar content in more than one journal.

Plagiarism Screening

All manuscripts submitted to Journal of Urban Science Education (JUSE)undergo mandatory plagiarism screening using recognized plagiarism detection software before entering the peer review process. Additional checks may be conducted at any stage of the editorial process if necessary.

Acceptable Similarity Threshold

As a general guideline:

  • Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding acceptable limits, or showing evidence of unethical overlap, will be returned to the authors for clarification or revision, or may be rejected outright.

  • Similarity resulting from properly cited quotations, references, methodological descriptions, or standard terminology is acceptable.
Final decisions regarding similarity are made by the Editor in Chief or the Editorial Board based on qualitative assessment, not solely on percentage scores.

Consequences of Plagiarism

If plagiarism is identified:

  • Before publication: the manuscript will be rejected, and authors may be subject to a submission ban for a specified period.

  • After publication: the article may be retracted, corrected, or withdrawn, following established ethical guidelines. A retraction notice will be published transparently on the journal website.

Serious cases of plagiarism may be reported to the authors’ affiliated institutions.

Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions are original, properly cited, and comply with ethical publishing standards. All sources must be clearly acknowledged, and any reuse of previously published material must be disclosed at the time of submission.

Ethical Standards

The journal adheres to internationally recognized publication ethics principles, including those promoted by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Allegations of plagiarism will be handled fairly, confidentially, and transparently.
